Max Mudie BA (Hons) is a multidisciplinary artist, macro photographer, mycologist, founder of All Things Fungi and co-founder of All Things Fungi Festival. A fine art photography graduate of Bournemouth Arts Institute (2007), he has spent many years exploring the remarkable worlds of fungi and myxomycetes. Through his striking macro photography, shared on Instagram as @allthingsfungi, he has gained recognition from international platforms and publications.

A dedicated mycologist, Max has identified and recorded hundreds of species, contributing valuable data to Kew Gardens' Darwin Tree of Life Project. He is an active member of the Sussex Fungus Group and, in 2026, joined the British Mycological Society's Fungal Outreach and Education Committee.

Max's fieldwork spans the globe. In 2025, he was invited to study fungi in Barbados as part of the MycoBIM project. The same year, he taught macro photography and led mushroom forays in Bhutan, working alongside the National Mushroom Centre of Bhutan to document fungal diversity. For the third consecutive year, he has also been commissioned to document biodiversity and deliver macro photography workshops across London's Royal Parks.

Beyond research and photography, Max is one-third of Petrichor, a not-for-profit organisation delivering nature-based education and nature-connection programmes that support mental and physical wellbeing. Through his work as an artist, educator, researcher, and festival co-founder, he is committed to inspiring a deeper appreciation of fungi and the hidden biodiversity that surrounds us.
