In 2025, Max Mudie taught macro photography and led mushroom forays in Bhutan in collaboration with the Bhutan Mushroom Tour Company.
During the expedition, Max attended a local mushroom festival, met with the Prime Minister of Bhutan, and worked alongside the National Mushroom Centre of Bhutan to document and collect data on lesser-studied fungal species. Drawing on his expertise in macro photography, he captured high-resolution images that are contributing to ongoing mycological research.
The collected specimens are currently being sequenced by Mycopunks, and several are expected to represent species new to science, highlighting the scientific significance of the expedition and its contribution to fungal biodiversity research.
