Max Mudie was commissioned by SUGi to document the diverse fungi and slime mould species thriving within their pocket forests across London.

These compact, densely planted ecosystems provide vital habitat for a wide range of life, from microorganisms and fungi to insects and birds, while also helping to cool the surrounding urban environment, improve air quality, and create resilient green spaces within the city. Through specialist macro photography, Max captured the often-overlooked biodiversity flourishing within these miniature forests, revealing the intricate beauty and ecological importance of these remarkable habitats.

A selection of the commissioned images was printed and exhibited at the SUGi Sloane Square Heritage Forest, showcasing the hidden biodiversity that exists within London's urban landscapes.
