Glow in the Dark Mushroom Log

This log is pre-inoculated with Panellus stipticus, the bioluminescent kind. This is designed to be fruited in a terrarium but can also be placed in a sheltered spot outside.

These logs have been inoculated with an American species which does glow in the dark. We can be very certain that the bioluminescence cassette was lost in European lineages.

Despite some slight differences in metabolism and mycelial growth, Panellus stipticus in Europe and in the U.S. are the same species.

The glow is faint and best observed with mature mushrooms, although the glow will be visible on the mycelium with long-exposure photography. The glow on mature mushrooms will be visible in complete darkness when your eyes adjust.

Please note, this unique grow isn't the easiest to get to work. This log is also covered in Trichoderma; try not to contaminate any other grows you have going. Don't open it in a sterile environment, like in front of a flow hood. It will destroy your monotubs; keep it away from droids.
