All Things Fungi Festival
Max Mudie is the co-founder of All Things Fungi Festival alongside award-winning botanical collage artist Jana Nicole. The Festival is a unique celebration where art, science, and nature come together. Set in the beautiful Sussex countryside, the festival invites people of all ages and experience levels to explore the extraordinary world of fungi through inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, guided walks, live music, wellness sessions, art installations, and immersive woodland experiences. Bringing together leading mycologists, artists, ecologists, and citizen scientists, we celebrate the vital role fungi play in our ecosystems while fostering curiosity, creativity, community, and a deeper connection with the natural world.
Community outreach and education
Max Mudie is a regular speaker at festivals, public events, and educational programmes, where he shares his passion for fungi and champions their vital role in our ecosystems. His engaging talks explore fungal ecology, biodiversity, conservation, and the fascinating hidden world beneath our feet, making the subject accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. Max currently serves on the British Mycological Society's Fungal Education and Outreach Committee, helping to promote fungal education and public engagement across the UK. Recent speaking engagements include the Grow Urban Festival at the Natural History Museum in London, where he spoke about urban fungi, demonstrating how these remarkable organisms thrive in our towns and cities, and how anyone can discover and connect with fungi even in an urban environment.
